Okay, everyone. Lately I’ve been super busy and only able to read during my commute or the last 5 seconds before falling asleep, so last night when I started this I thought there was no way I’d be able to read it before it came out (I know, I know, bad blogger, bad blogger). Well, you know what, this book was so captivating, so heartfelt, so swoony and angsty, and everything in between that today I did not avert my eyes from its pages and devoured it like I was Lily and the book was Will (*wags eyebrows*).
Now, I’m not going to give away any spoilery spoilers because there’s no fun in that, but I want to say that the atmosphere of this book was very different from the previous one by this author. I felt like the focus was truly mainly on the couple and their dynamics, which I loved, with less input from secondary characters. Don’t get me wrong, they were there nonetheless, but I felt like the romance here was the uttermost protagonist, and righteously so, giving how tormented these two poor souls are. Something that was also different was the setting, another thing that I loved dearly, because it gave the characters, and the reader with them, the chance to feel separated from the world. A mini universe to be someone new, someone better, someone happier.
The characters were phenomenal and Will is now up there fighting Nico for the best book boyfriend spot. What I loved about him was how human and conflicted and troubled he was. In this book we really see him struggle with his inner demons, and at times he doesn’t make the right choice, he doesn’t do right by his Lily pad. He effs up. Sometimes slightly, sometimes royally. And here is where I applaud the author for balancing their relationship so magistrally that Will’s mood swings became understandable and Maggie appeared as even a stronger heroine fot weathering his storms with his rather than giving up.
Their chemistry was OFF. THE. CHARTS. I’m talking serious hotness here, people. Moreover, as an estimator of the man bun, I was totally in love with Will’s “gentleman caveman” look.
Now all there is left to do is to count down the days (I know, DAYS!) until the next instalment, that given the ending of book #1 will be another hell of a ride!
between my legs, and his unique scents engulfed me. Working all afternoon only made them that much stronger—the scent of pine trees, lake water, and man swallowed me with a heady rush that made me shake slightly. And it was then, only then, that he finally touched me. My waist was encircled by his wide palms, so broad that his fingers nearly touched on either side. It was relatively innocent, but the intent was clear. Just like last night, he held me still; I couldn’t move unless he wanted me to. For that moment, I was his.
Unconsciously, I licked the lower one. His pupils dilated even more.
staring at his mouth—so soft and full under his newly trimmed beard.

Springsteen fanatic, hopeless romantic, and total bookworm. When not writing
fiction or teaching writing classes, she is hanging out with her family,
playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on
dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running with her
dog, Greta, or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these
things as much as she should.
