Real Neat Blog Award

It’s been a hot minute since the last time I did something like this and since Sophie over at Beware of the Reader left the tag open to everyone who wants to participant I thought I’d jump in and have a little fun.

1. IF YOU COULD DO SOMETHING BETTER THAN YOU’RE ALREADY DOING RIGHT NOW, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

This is a hard first question. Lately I’ve been struggling a bit when it comes to getting back on the books and doing some stats, so I’d definitely could use a boost when it comes to getting a better grasp over some concepts.

Also, effing Danish. I’ve been learning it for over 300 days (thanks Duolingo for keeping count), and I still need to check the spelling for half the words.

2. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE THIS NEW DECADE (2020-2029) TO BRING TO YOUR LIFE?

2020 already brought me some good satisfactions when it comes to future projects and career. So I’d say the only thing missing is love… and since I’m moving to the UK soon, if you know any duke, marquis, or highlander, just direct them my way. Thank you.

3. IS THERE A SEQUEL TO SOMETHING THAT YOU LOOK FORWARD TO?

Absolutely! I know the next book in the VIP series by Kristen Callihan (“Exposed” Cover not yet revealed) is supposed to be out soon, as well as the next book in the Like Us series, so these are two of my most awaited releases!

4. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE STORIES IN ANY MEDIUM (COMICS, BOOKS, SHOWS, MOVIES, VIDEO GAMES, ETC.)?

I don’t read comics, I could never get into them. I am a dialogue-whore, so whenever I look at a comic, I never stop to appreciate the art and just read the few sentences and go onto the next page.

However, when I was a kid I remember reading this fun vegetables-based action comic that my grocery store produced and it was awesome!

When it comes to books, there are just too many to choose from. I’ll just say that I love love stories, and I get especially engrossed when the stakes are high and there is also suspense or action, which is why I love romantic suspense and PNR.

Shows and movies: lately I’ve been all over everything sci-fi, rewatching all the Alien movies, and everything space related. Stand outs were without a doubt, the Martian with Matt Damon, and Alien Covenant, which not many people liked, but whatever. Overall I like stories and universes in which you can get lost into, and that really draw you into their universes. Which is also why I love historical shows like Outlander, or fantasy ones like the Witcher.

An honorable mention also goes to Black Mirror because that’s pure art. All but the 5th season. We don’t talk about the 5th season here, and pretend it never happened.

As for videogames, I never really played them much as they weren’t technically allowed in my house. However, I did manage to play the Harry Potter ones on the down low and remember really liking them as a kid. I loved being able to walk around Hogwarts. Oh and my best friend growing up had Nintendo 64 so Mario is definitely up there.

5. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR LEAST FAVOURITES STORIES IN ANY MEDIUM (COMICS, BOOKS, SHOWS, MOVIES, VIDEO GAMES, ETC.)?

As New Ort was the only comic I ever read, I have no worst-comic really.

Books-wise… opens GR’s “tree died for this” category I remember really not liking King by TM Frazier, and overall I am not a fan of asshole male leads. There’s nothing romantic about abuse or mistreatment.

Ohhh, a big disappointment were My Sweetest Escape by Chelsea M. Cameron and the other book by her that is the continuation of the first. I loved her first book, but the sequels were just a huge nopety nope.

And lastly, because I don’t want to bash too many books, Passion by Lauren Kate. It is one of the most useless pieces of literature I have ever read in my life. No plot, no reason to exist. The same scenes rinse and repeat for like 300 pages. Pure madness.

When it comes to tropes or subgenres, I don’t like erotica or books with no plot that are just sex scene after sex scene. No, thank you, I’ll take my books with a side of plot and character development. I also doon’t really like what I call “Hallmark” books, which are books that are overly sweet, with two-dimensional characters, usually set in small towns around the holidays. You get the genre.

Oh, and I don’t do mafia. Unless they are the bad guys. To me mafia is what kills my country every day so seeing it romanticized would be like for a US citizen to read a book about extreme Jihadists falling in love with your all-around american girl and then blowing up a US landmark to profess his love for her. Just no.

6. WHAT DOES BLOGGING BRING TO YOUR LIFE?

Nowadays, I don’t blog as much as I used to. I like to know that it’s there if I ever want to have a fun evening like tonight, or express my opinion on a bookish topic. Plus, I love the bloggers’ community. I was recently thinking that as much as the romance authors community at times can be very angsty and conflictual, I’m glad bloggers don’t seem to have the same level of drama. Probably because we don’t make any money off this and it’s not our business or livelihood, but yeah, I appreciate how it is a safe space to just enjoy books.

7. IF THERE’S SOMETHING YOU COULD CHANGE OF THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I mean, beside making Covid disappear and obvious world peace? Well, I’mma get political for a second, just cause as I said there’s not enough drama in this community (lol, look at me stirring shit). I wish Donald Trump’s neurones would multiple a couple times, enhancing his synapsis and adding a couple IQ points to his brain so that he could finally understand what’s going on and hopefully do something about it.

Besides that, I’d change the fact that in 2020 we’re still not wearing those spandex space onesies everyone in the past thought we’d all be wearing by now.

8. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD EAT RIGHT NOW?

Cevicheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I miss you ceviche, please come back to me! I cannot make you at home because I’m not good enough to make leche de tigre! Have pity of me, just land on my doorstep and I’ll devour you in two bites. God I miss my peruvian food.

Pokebowls are close seconds, but I’ve been eating sashimi quite a lot lately (homemade of course), so the craving is not has bad.

9. IF THERE WAS ONE MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURE THAT COULD EVER EXIST IN THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

So I was going to say vampires, because they’re sexy, they drink blood they are immortal (and their blood could probably cure covid). Plus I love me some gothic clothing. However, I have to go with wizard because if you are not a vampire there’s not much to enjoy (and you’re likely to get killed), but even if you are a  muggle and find yourself a wizard significant other… it’s still a pretty sweet deal.

10. DO YOU THINK THERE’S A CURE FOR STUPIDITY?

Sometimes I try to convince myself that education is the answer to stupidity. But then I see how unwilling people are to educate themselves and rather enjoy basking in their ignorance. So I’m a little half/half on this.

I won’t tag anyone also, so if you want to join the bandwagon, just consider yourslef tagged!

Wow you were quick to do it! And when I’ll visit you in Oxford I promise we’ll go eat some ceviche (I have never tasted it but I’ll do it). And now let’s find you a hot highlander!
